I can't get this car out of my head...2022+ Audi S3 Technik. Basically a fancy MK8 Golf R without the atrocious interior. At first I thought the interior of the Audi looked too weird, but I've driven it a couple times now and have grown to really appreciate it. As an example of something that looks weird, but is actually amazing, is the vent placements for the driver. They're high up beside the gauge cluster so blow at your face/neck/body versus just at your hands like every other car. Function over fashion...beautiful.

I also love the size. Small and tossable.

On Audi forums there are a bunch of dee-bags who yip about it not being true quattro, being FWD biased, etc., but honestly, the driving dynamics are totally fun. I really, really like it. I mean, I can count on one hand the number of times I've disabled traction control to kick out the ass end of my current car RWD-biased car on drive pavement. Understeer because of the FWD bias is just not an issue for me since I'd rarely - if ever - be pushing it to that kind of limit. And even if I do, understeer is so controllable. Just let off for a millisecond and then stab the throttle. I actually like controlling FWD cars during shenanigans, let alone this is AWD, anyway.

Another crazy thing is despite the small size (it's 2' shorter than my current car, which is an astronomical difference in the car world), the interior is more comfortable and fits a big person like me beautifully. Better than any BMW or Merc (and Lexus, obviously...those are made for hobbits). Small trunk, but big enough for anything I'd do.

Two hesitations: will I miss my CLS550? TTV8 is pretty fun, but I've had this car for seven years now...longest I've ever kept any car. I think it's beautiful to look at and I really enjoy it, but it is 11 years old now, has 120,000kms, and I'm sure it's going to have some maintenance issues at some point soon. Like, it can't go on forever...even the air suspension still works and is original. Other hesitation is no cooled or ventilated seats in the Audi. That totally annoys me. What's with Audi? Can't even get them on the S5 Sportback, which is bonkers. I think the comfort otherwise more than compensates for this, though.

Here is a review that I really like because it totally mirrors my experience with the car and makes me feel justified in how much I enjoyed it, which runs totally contrary to how it is viewed in the Audi community:

Any thoughts on this sucker?
