Because of the strikes, CBS decided to supersize TAR and Survivor this season, with 90 minute episodes back-to-back each Wednesday. As a result, they shot this whole season this summer even though they already have a race in the can that was shot last fall.

This season will feature 13 teams and no non-elimination legs (for real this time, none of that "megaleg" stuff). It will also see the return of competitive travel without charter flights between legs, Express Passes, and U-Turns.

It will also see a full circle of the globe, starting in Los Angeles and ending in Washington State. The last two races were kept primarily to Europe (with a short hop to Jordan) and the so-far unaired season stayed entirely within the Americas.
