Since people don't like using just last season as a statistical example for the club and it's players, I think it's equally stupid to only measure using the immediate season preceding. Use their whole careers.

Another way to say that is prior to arriving here, Huberdeau hadn't had a below 90 points pace season since 2017/2018. In 2019/20, when he had 78 points, he played all 69 games for the Panthers. In 2020/21, when Huberdeau had 61 points he played 55/56 games for the Panthers.
Kadri had 56 points last year, on a miserable team that he clearly hated playing on. To conclude that he can't rebound to 60, after having 87 points 2 years ago, seems pretty negative.
"Use their whole careers" doesn't really seem all that effective of a way of doing things, when you have to account for rookies developing and the fact Kadri was stuck behind Matthews and Tavares in Toronto. Technically, through his whole career, Kadri is a 57 point centre...I'd be happy with that, if he also brings some physicality and great two way play, like he's done through his whole career except last year.
