Yeah, he's only pitched in 8 games since signing that 7 year contract.
The option worked out perfectly to coincide with the only year he would have exercised it as it was the year after winning the WS MVP.
Sounds like they have a settlement to pay maybe a little less than what is owed or defer some as part of him retiring.
