Yeah, I think normally you should try to resolve things with your current company first and if things don’t work out, then pursue other employment opportunities and don’t look back. I would be very suspicious of getting a counter-offer from your current company to stay. It seems like a desperate move made out of duress, and as soon as they can, they’d just punt you. You have basically burned two bridges.
