I am FULLY on board with this perps being given the old Singapore style caning that results in pain that can not even be described nor believed. Now with social media, we can broadcast fully to everybody and we can reduce this type of behavior.
Fear of pain and fear or repercussions of physical harm send powerful messages. No different than NHL style enforcers. A message is sent and people follow the rules just a little bit better.

You took a complex problem and reduced it to people needing to get beaten, and that will solve the problem.
Know what? I'm at the point where I'm not made angry by theft from a store that makes billions in profit, and sometimes I'm at the point where I've considered some low level theft myself.
I'm disgusted at myself for the thought but shame can be trumped by need. If I did steal, know what wouldn't deter me from doing it again? being beaten. you beating me wouldn't feed my family or take away any of my desperation. you'd just help to make me a harder person and strip more of my guilt and decency away.
I might as well start calling you Javert if I'm being literary. we just need to beat people to the point of crippling them.. I think you'd be shocked of how little that would deter people.
