The team has it's two most overpaid players signed for the next 6 and 8 years respectively. Both players are post apex. One is the third most overpaid player in the league. The other is also significantly overpaid. The contracts will only get worse with time.
Instead of genuinely coming to terms with how awful the roster is positioned, the front office hired themselves to conduct an investigation to decide if the problem was the coach the owner hired or team roster that the front office constructed. The front office then obviously found that they have a great roster and the problem was the coach.
So now, instead of coming to terms with it's flawed roster of expiring contracts, bad contracts and lack of franchise players... the front office is trying to sign another late-20s, non-franchise forward to a long-term, big money contract.
It's a bold strategy. Let's see how it works out for them.
