With the AHL primarily playing on weekends. Wolf is waiver except and I think the plan is for him to play 5-20~ games this year with the big club during 3-4 game home stands with games during the week.
Oscar Dansk will hold down the fort in the AHL if Wolf is with the big club.

I agree they are not forced to do anything due to the waiver eligibility for Wolf but I would be surprised if their preference was to not have to run 3 goalies throughout the season and get the 2 time goalie of the year and reigning AHL MVP on the big roster.
There were rumblings the Flames declined trading Vladar for a 3rd at the draft so they are certainly not looking to give him away but I also think they would like the flexibility a rookie scale backup has vs a 2.2M veteran.
