The judges reasoning doesn't heavily support that they took the guy's sob story into account. Four years is quite a bit for a first sentence for a low level drug dealer. If it hadn't been fentanyl he probably would have only gotten a few months at most.
It did sound like he was homeless when he started drug dealing.. But I guess he was good at dealing?
I still don't get how anyone could ever deal fentanyl and live with themselves though. He likely helped kill several people.
