That’s true. Bassitt has been boom or bust and Kikuchi has been steady (who’d have thunk it?).
You are right. The indictment really is on the bats and on management for not doing their jobs in addressing the issues with bats. They knew that we’d take a step backwards this season without Hernandez, Gurriel, and to a much lesser extent Moreno and when it became clear that the regression was a lot more than expected, they twiddled their thumbs.
Having a great bullpen is awesome. Having to only use your great high leverage guys on a semi-regular basis because the team has built big leads is even better.
