Nope, I didn't say that at all. This is a fiction, invented by you. Just as this all got kicked off by the fictitious scenario that "anyone of a dozen or so of CP’s ‘Perennial Posters’ will show up, level an unprovoked ad hominem, usually at Yoho, and think nothing of it". That's not at all true; people call out bull####. That does not constitute an
ad hominem attack. Your summary of the current state of discourse as "a left-wing (cloaked in progressivism, in good measure) fire hose of invective" is an exaggeration of the truth.
Rather, the people around here who tend to peddle falsehoods and gibberish at a much higher rate than everyone else happen to be right-wingers. They probably do perceive themselves to be picked on for their political beliefs. In reality they're not being picked on for their beliefs: their beliefs are being shredded for being nonsense.
Their problem is they're wont to believe in propaganda and the scattershot manner in which they perpetuate it wins them no friends. They're under the mistaken impression that if they find some opinion piece or other "media source" that espouses what
they want the truth to be, that the rest of us owe that "source" any credence, respect or equal standing. We don't. Especially when it's a very obviously biased exaggeration of the truth, or just factually untrue altogether.

I hold a ton of liberal views (climate change, minority right name it, I’m pretty liberal). I dislike the UPC and all of their leaders since Lougheed (who you probably have no reference point for), both for a great many of their policy positions and the cynical, and frequently mean-spirited way they do politics.
