That's the thing. Mental Illness doesn't look like one thing. I will tell you that often it doesn't look like someone sitting in a dark room, balled up and weeping.

Often the person looks like they have it all figured it out - living a good life, happy, smiling, with everything one needs. Life of the party.

And then one day they decide to shove a gun in their mouth.

It's similar to drowning. People think someone drowning is thrashing about, calling for help. That's not what it actually looks like.

We need to do away with the idea that mental illness "looks" a certain way or "doesn't look" a certain way. Perhaps you thought it was a funny little dig. But it isn't. It perpetuates the stereotypes towards the issue that is a big part of the problem.
