Maybe Elias can sign the Nugent Hopkins contract. A lot of folks throw out the Horvat comparable but Nugent Hopkins is more of an Alberta comparable.
Over the four years before Nugent Hopkins signed his contract he had averaged 70 points per 82 games.
For Elias he averaged 70 points every 82 games for the four seasons before he signed his contract.
Elias will be a year older when the contract kicks in so there is that difference.
Flames should shoot for that, 8 years 5.125 million a year. Maybe round up and adjust for inflation and say 8 years 48 million.
