Don’t try and make an appointment — they should be able to accommodate you at either Harry Hays or at the Sundance location (which is where I went). Some people have reported going in the afternoon is better as there is less if any lineup. I would budget at least a few hours though — they have a webpage that shows “current wait times” but it is only updated a couple of times a day so I don’t know how accurate or helpful it is.

I did Canada Place in Edmonton a few weeks ago. Showed up at 8 AM, got to the front of the first window around 9:15 and was all done by 10 AM. I would assume Harry Hays was similar? It was relatively painless overall. It was for an urgent passport and I went on a Monday morning. Had the new passport in hand by 3:00 PM on Wednesday.
