Weager - seems level headed and a natural leader. Impressive how he managed to find his way last year. Kept struggling through season until it worked. Only 29 and here on long term deal. One of best players on team.
Ras - Clearly proud to be a flame with Backlund like vibes in that respect. Young enough to do it a long time. Plays with intensity. One of best players on team. Clearly an alpha. Unafraid to call out older guys - see interview about Neal a few years back.
Huby - seems to like organizing things off the ice and making everyone feel included. Third worst contract in NHL according to Dom at Athletic and signed for 8 years, so he's going to have that hanging on his head his entire tenure.
Backlund - probably the leader in the dressing room already. Perfect mix of class, intensity, community orientation. Loves playing for the flames and city. Might not be here for very long.
Kadri - Would be cool to have a Muslim captain. Super community oriented. Apparently well liked in dressing room. Clearly plays with a lot of intensity. Has a ring. Unclear what his leadership skills are like.

I actually want to make a small argument for 3 more.
Lindholm - If he re-signs, he might want it to be his team. He has been an integral part of the top line for several seasons now. He leads by example, and is often difficult to play against.
Dube - He's younger, has been a captain before. He's always the fittest Flame. He might also be in the right spot to pop this season.
Tanev - He's much like Backlund, and he leads by example. He's a warrior one that brings his A game every game. He makes players around him better, and has an awesome smile for the media.
