I think this was more to recruting as opposed to playing them.
This sucks, because I grew up with the PAC10/12 and am a traditionalist at heart.
the PAC12 had the richest TV contract in 2011 apparently, and they pissed it all away by not being proactive and making poor decisions (like lauching the PAC12 network without a cable distributor on board)...also overestimating their value (reportedly their ask was 50 per year per team
after USC/UCLA had left already) which made ESPN look at the Big12 deal first.
Its a shame that they couldn't get a deal that was equal to the Big12
