So sure, he could be right and could have some kind of verbal confirmation from people he's spoken to, but he also reeks of confirmation bias, and would probably be one of the first to jump to conclusions without any verifiable proof.
Lazar I've heard differing opinions on. I don't know what to believe because opinions on him are so polarized. Either people appear to want badly to discredit him or to believe him. From what I've seen of him I think he believes in the story he tells, and the way he tells it passes my lie detector as far as visual cues and the consistency in his account, but who knows.

I think the right type of person can tell a lie long enough they believe it, which makes it easier to pass it off as the truth. He's been telling the stories for a long time.
