Last time it took ~50 years to undo the damage done by people giving up on city centres. I'd argue they never actually got back anywhere close to where they were previously, in so far as being livable places. How do we fix it faster this time?
I think if the addiction/homelessness trend doesn't reverse, the damage goes way beyond city centres as well.
