I was all for acquiring Nylander, but I have some serious reservations now.
Tying up that much money on the wings isn't a good idea. Huberdeau is here for 8 years. Do the Flames also tie up another 8-10 million on the wings for another 7 or 8 years as well? Sure, the Flames don't have an up and coming centre prospect to make room for, but it will certainly handicap them if one does come up through the ranks and/or becomes available.
Also, Nylander absolutely does show up in the playoffs, but fans in Toronto seem a bit polarized with regards to him because he makes too many soft plays, especially defensively.
I am mixed on acquiring Nylander. In the end, I hope the Flames stay away, as I don't think I like Nylander enough to have him as the team's second highest paid player (by a hair) for the next 8 seasons.
