I was right here. And other coaches had worse rosters. Hartley had one freak season, coupled with the exact type of seasons that Ward or GG would have had with identical rosters, except they wouldn't alienate the entire roster.
At least Sutter didn't hide his nature. Hartley pretended to be Mr. Genial with the press and was an a-hole to the players behind the scenes.
BTW, his first year, Hartley had a lineup with Iggy, Cammaleri, Stempniak Tanguay, Hudler, Glencross, Gio, Jaybo, Stajan, young versions of TJ Brodie and Michael Backlund, and his goalie was Kipper. Not exactly "blown up".
He managed a .438 record. 2nd worst in Flames history.
