I think it's weird people are taking a lack of anything happening as a sign of inaction, or that it's an indication of what Conroy wants (i.e. he's banking on a bounce back from the team and Lindholm being open to re-sign).
That last part is certainly an outcome that could occur, because as much as we'd like this to just be wrapped up, it's a very fluid situation.
Nothing has happenned yet because nothing has trigger action. Lindholm really has 0 reason to sign any contract now. First important deadline for him is start of training camp maybe, as injury risk introduces it's self. Outside of that, his deadline of note is start of season, and that really only matters for the aformentioned injury risk, and what his mindset is on himself. Will this season increase his value, decrease it or hold flat.........and does he really consider Calgary as an option.
Conroy likely hasn't moved, because he hasn't gotten an offer that makes sense for him yet. One that doesn't make him think he couldn't get equal or better later in the process (yes that means potentially all the way to deadline). But that doesn't mean he's not working on getting a better deal.
The ideal situation of a win fall at the draft for Lindholm didn't happen. That's too bad, and it could be because of poor GMing, or the poor market. Don't know for sure, but all signs point to the poor market.
Trading Lindholm now because we are nervous about the Johnny outcome would be the worst move Conroy could make if the offers aren't good. That would literally be him being handcuffed by the mistakes of the past, not learning from them.
