I hear ya... I'm not defending the political wisdom of her decision, I'm defending the fact that she 'has to apologize for the remarks and retract them' which posters and politicians seem to be demanding. She doesn't, and it doesn't make her an evil person. Whether or not the move was political suicide, as far as I'm concerned, is besides the point. I don't really care if it was a 'smart move' or not. It doesn't justify morally outrageous backlash and demands for her to apologize/resign.
Definitely agreed... I certainly didn't come into this thread to tell anyone she was a political genius.

I think despite being from different sides of the spectrum, we're pretty close to agreeance on this one. I'm not asking for an apology or resignation on her part... I really couldn't believe that in a situation like we have today, where the environment has usurped healthcare for most important issue, and when an environment special interest party like the Greens could really thrive and snap up some serious votes, that she would say such things. Really, all she has to do is get some photo-ops with Al Gore and David Suzuki, make a few comments about the conservative (and liberal) environmental plans and generally stay out of trouble by avoiding divisive statements. Maybe she should hire me to be her advisor.
It probably won't be devastating, but if people remember her little tirade for anything, it'll be the "needing the power of Jesus" stuff, and that could sink her ship come election time.
