This statistic is commonly spread but not understood. It was not meant to imply that an individual has an 80% chance to 'grow out of it', it was meant to imply that the clinical criteria needed more research and to be updated.


Had I been in that study, I likely would have been classified as a desister. Misinformed people like yourself would add myself to the statistic pile of people at risk of irreversible care that I would later regret. Only, I never felt that I should have been the opposite gender. I never felt uncomfortable with the genitalia assigned to me at birth. I just liked to play with dolls and hated getting toy cars.


Yet, by the old measure that study was using, I could have passed the criteria at a young age to have GD.
