The reality is that there's not a lot of money out there for these players in free agency as Cook, Hunt, and Elliot are on the street without contracts. Jacobs will make $10.1 million next season under the franchise tag. Why would he miss games and not get paid? The best thing any of these players can do is come to camp ready for another quality season to ensure that he's viable to get tagged again at a 20% increase or released to free agency. Show up right before week one out of shape and they probably get injured or have a sub par season which will lead to them making even less money than the franchise tag 2nd year or free agency coming off a good season.
