The take you just presented is more reasonable than attempting to affirm a political group providing a breeding ground for others who are essentially of the same mindset, just on steroids.
Conservatives, at least the ones I know, don't give a #### who or what you want to be. That's the beautiful part of this country. The key being, just don't push it on others.

Which would be fine, if the Conservatives we’re talking about didn’t interpret “pushing it on others” as hosting completely optional drag readings, or teaching factual information about mental and physical health in schools, or protecting, maintaining, or expanding rights of people based on sexuality or gender.
Every child should be taught about gender and sexuality in a public school system. If you want to come in and teach your child that any of that is a sin or wrong, go wild, but your religion does not and should not dictate what facts are or aren’t allowed to be taught in schools.
