The Fraternity stories we get almost every year blow these stories out of the water in terms of the deaths and wide spread rapes involved there. Football in the US has similar hazing stories come out all the time including a current hazing scandal at Northwestern which is a top 5 academic school in the US with a coach that is as respected as it gets.
There are stories that come out from other sports as well that aren't as big a focus for us that hockey is and stories I have heard from people in other sports, if we are using personal antecdotes as evidence, similar in nature.
This isn't to say there aren't awful things that happen at the junior hockey level or give them a pass, but there does seem to be a lot of people that think this is a junior hockey problem not a society overall problem, that hockey players are worse compared to other similar groups and in the comment that I responded to that anyone involved in junior hockey is also a horrible person.
