The one thing Poirier has done to be ahead of Morin for me is continuing to progress every year, and doing it in the AHL. Obviously Morin hasn't had that chance yet, but there's no guarantee he can progress as well as Poirier has
Nothing against either of them, they're undoubtedly our #1 and #2 D prospects. I just think Poirier has taken every step forward we could have hoped for, especially as a rookie in the AHL. Hopefully Morin can follow a similar path and be in the NHL conversation in the next 2-3 years

Scouts aren't rating Morin high because he is getting opportunities (by default), they rated him the best (or one of the best, depending on who) Canadian defenseman in the draft.
Yes, Poirier has progressed very well over the last 4 years. No question. But even with that, his upside is no where near where Morin's is.
