Morin put up better numbers in his draft year than Poirier did in D+1 or D+2.
Morin has at least (more, IMO) offensive skill than Poirier, with a more complete skill set, and a way higher hockey IQ.
Poirier has progressed tremendously, and has worked on many of his short-comings. But Morin, has top pairing potential, whereas Poirier more likely has offensive, 3rd-pairing potential.

If Morin can continue to be a minute muching all situation top D it's an incredible pick, but to be fair Moncton has very subpar D outside of Morin
The one thing Poirier has done to be ahead of Morin for me is continuing to progress every year, and doing it in the AHL. Obviously Morin hasn't had that chance yet, but there's no guarantee he can progress as well as Poirier has
Nothing against either of them, they're undoubtedly our #1 and #2 D prospects. I just think Poirier has taken every step forward we could have hoped for, especially as a rookie in the AHL. Hopefully Morin can follow a similar path and be in the NHL conversation in the next 2-3 years
