The thing that makes me really angry is that we all got on board with these streaming services because we pay money for content, what is sometimes lost is that we actually pay money for 'access to content' as opposed to actually owning our own copies.

But I think most of us did this under the belief that that content would always be accessible, much like a Library. This is most certainly turning out to not be the case.

This means that creators get screwed out of royalties, back-end revenues on DVD sales have evaporated, and some of this content that many of these talented creators toiled over tirelessly is simply going to evaporate into the ether.

I always think back a little. One of my favourite little movies of all time was a box-office disaster. Then it gained a little traction on Home Video, and then a little more and now I'd wager its considered one of the greatest movies.

That little flick is called: "The Shawshank Redemption."

They are killing this opportunity to find hidden gems.

I will never, ever forgive what they did to 'Final Space' and to disappear a show like 'Midnight Mass' to the void of some 'Netflix Abu Ghraib Blacksite' is unforgiveable.

Its been a long time since I've bought a DVD, and even the prospect is rather quaint, but I agree with Flanagan, I think we seriously have to consider bringing back physical media.
Add that to the long list of reasons why I have my own Plex server. At this point piracy isn't about the money anymore, it's about convenience and not being at the whims of a streaming provider
