This doesn't answer why the actual perpetrators of the assault should receive a (substantially) lighter punishment than those not directly involved?
Why do we care about the hockey careers of these people? Some people's hockey careers have ended because of a bunk knee, or because they missed a pass one time. These plugs are lucky not to be going to jail. Why do they need to be back tainting the game with the stink of this crap? Just get gone.
