Hasek defintely was in Buffalo. However, the face of the franchise is usually a skater, and out of all the prospects, I feel Honzek as the most potential to get there.

I am very high on the Flames' prospect base as a whole, and see some players with a potential to be stars - Coronato, Pelletier, Poirier, Morin, etc. I also assign huge value on a guy like Klapka, who I think could develop into a very important piece later on if he continues to progress. Guys like Zary, Kuznetsov, Stromgren, Suniev, etc - all show high potential too.

At this point, I see Honzek as the most likely 'franchise player' in the years to come, rather than being down on guys like Coronato. I think Honzek as a fairly complete high-end package will make a lot of people wonder how he didn't go top 10 in the draft in a couple of seasons.

This is one if the issues i have with just an open rank. I put a lot of stock on AHL success so wolf, zary, poirier. Coro has done well in college a pretty good league itself.

However when you look at sheer upside Honzek probably goes first, then wolf, then coro these are the three with first line( position relevant) potential. I think Honzek is going to make a few teams in the teens if not top ten regret their decision. I think he is a star in the making ( i stick to my getzlaf comparison) but i rank him second or third with almost no margin between him and coro. Then add morin who could be a top pair defencemen the gaps are soo narrow on some of these and i think suniev belongs here to.

On the other hand Pelts and rucicka have nhl games and both had stretches where they look like they belong. ( do we have a more frustrating prospect here than rucicka? Eat breads fire with him he is a top six center gaaahhh)
So to me pelts and rucy have the targets on their back right now and they probably know it.

I dont care what anyone says our prospect pool is actually pretty damn good and just seems to keep putting out nhl potential. Just wish we could have had one more pick in the twenties this last draft but we do have at least one more prospect coming from potential trades this year so we could be looking really good here.
