These guys are RFAs next year. What kind of year will they need to have to break the bank? Can’t imagine any will get huge money after next year. Dube likely gets the most and wolf could have a season too. But just don’t see more than $4 mil for either.
If these guys all play well enough to get $3 mil to $4 mil the Flames will be very good and probably have enough quality youth to let guys like backlund go. Maybe Mangiapane becomes expendable too
Lindholm is a first liner so he’s not killing us
Markstrom has 3 years left you can bridge wolf til his deal is up
Coronato is an RFA in 2 years same year as Mangiapane. How well would he have to play to get more than Mangiapane? I’d be does we are looking good
Honzek likely doesn’t play this year making him an RFA in 4 years. Coleman is up and the cap likely is much higher making signing him a bit easier as Lindholm deal don’t look as bad then
After 4 years Kadri is getting close to being done so a bridge for Honzek might work unless he’s elite. But if he’s elite. How good are the Flsmes?
Odds are not all our prospects will be stars. So I don’t see issues really. Enough will be coming up in the next 4 years to keep these guys

You talk like bridging works in todays NHL.

Point is, nobody knows how good Coronato, Honzek, Wolf or others will be in 3-4 years but if some pop you need the resources to lock them down long term so they don't walk before they reach their prime. This is especially true in small market Canada.
If you think Lindholm is going to age like fine wine then great, but I don't.
