Currently Stoney ends at major highways, which can handle the volumes a bit better. 16th and Sarcee act as a bit of a pseudo ring road at the moment, and SB Sarcee at Bow can barely handle it already at peak times.
Old Banff Coach Road, 69th, etc. with all of the lights and intersections wouldn’t fare very well, and I think it would be a gong show. Once that can of worms gets opened, it can’t be closed.

Sarcee and Bow is the worst intersection in Calgary. And development plans call for significantly increasing the density of all those communities east of the intersection.
