Lots of former players have chartered Private jets on days off to do something exciting. The stories of players playing hockey night 8pm and landing in Seattle by 2AM MST, watching the Seahawks and being home by 6PM the same day.

Are other pro sports the only things these guys like to do? It's disappointing to hear as a Canadian but I suppose guys from Vancouver/Toronto are closer to American cities growing up too.
Calgary has a huge amount to offer for people who like the outdoors. As far as any Canadian scene goes the nightlife is fine (maybe not after covid, I don't know I'm a family man these days.) Maybe that's why we've been focusing on swedes lately, they like the cold and like to fish in mountainous regions lol
