I have had golf elbow / tennis many times. I worked at a golf course with a driving range 20 metres from my office. I have had to leave golf games and hockey games because of it. So painful I couldn't even hold my hockey stick. It is caused by a repetitive motion, be it swinging a golf club, shooting the puck, swinging a hammer, digging dirt, etc. It is inflammation of the tendon. Similar to patella tendonitis which I have also had. Too much sports in my younger years.
Being that it is inflammation, my advised treatment was anti-inflammatory meds like ibuprofen and icing and rest. It can be very painful at times but also just nagging. I found the devices help but when it becomes nagging more is required. Your body starts to think the tendonitis is normal. I have found Shockwave treatment worked for me every time. It is non evasive. What it does is inflame / or hurt the tendon even more. It can be painful. Your body then figures out the sore tendon isn't normal and your body starts healing it.
My two cents. I am not a medical expert but still active.
