Considering the marching orders seem to be contend every year at all costs... I agree with this wholeheartedly. Not saying Backlund or Coleman, etc. are bad but gone are the days that this team can afford to pay that much for middle sixers or even 4th liners for " character " etc.
I think Conroy sees this to considering he completely nuked the aging 4th line for cheaper younger players. You can even argue Yegor is part of this line of thinking to. I would rather have an impact top line locked up that can provide game breaking offence rather than 4 even lines of 20 goal scorers with no game breakers making 5 to 7 mill. That's how you get high shot volume with low shooting %. It's better to have money tied up on actual game breakers and fill the roster with young hungry guys through the rest of the line up on cheap contracts. Give Huby his minutes he needs to play, Conroy said as much.
