Yup and cap percentage plays a role.
When Kopitar signed his $10M deal that was 14% of the cap.
Let's say the cap grows to $85M next year for the start of Lindholm's extension, 14% would be $11.9M.
So if Lindholm gets $8.9M that would technically be about 20% lower than the equivalent cap hit that Kopitar got on his extension and that seems more than fair to me.
