I am telling you, it cannot be done without tools.
I witnessed excessive force, I saw people try and angle the cap, try a screwing motion, I even experienced people smashing them against the table all to no avail.
Wherever this company spent their manufacturing budget it was clearly the pen-caps because those bastards could take a serious beating and no matter what that cap was not going over the back of the pen.
It was just not happening.
And it drove people INSANE.
I also learned a lot about my own humanity, not that it wasnt something I didnt know already though, but that is that I am not good at restraining my amusement and laughter at other people's struggles.
I even...I had these clients who brought their very young, particularly rambunctious daughter with them and she would not settle down, so I gave her a pen and said that if she could get the cap onto the back of the pen I'd let her play my Star Wars ATARI game.
she settled into the couch to attack her task and her parents looked at me quizzically and I simply re-assured them:
"Dont worry...it cant be done. She can play Star Wars ATARI anytime she wants, but she will never, ever, get that cap onto the back of that pen."
Like I said, it was a wild time to be alive.
