Dube was a second round pick and further ahead in his development. He was also the last forward prospect to jump up full time and did so in 2018/19. That team was full of depth guys the Flames had drafted, Hathaway, Jankowski, Bennett, Valimaki, Monahan, Tkachuk, Gaudreau, Andersson, Mangiapane, Dube, etc... Were all recent draft picks at that point.

After that season, the Flames started giving their prospects more development time... Then no NHL time at all. Maybe they were worried they'd screwed up Bennett and Jankowski by not giving them enough time in the AHL? But they obviously went way to far the other way.

None of which prevented ANY player in the organization from making enough of an impression in camp or during their regular seasons to get a longer look or grabbing the attention of the decision makers.
