Those segments & others just filler, most likely instituted through Rogers as “tested” way to attract listeners.
I like George’s humour and the rapport he has with Matty. Rogers constantly dropped the ball with this station. They have been a day late & a dollar short with podcasting, culling staff that can actually create local content, and not realizing the investment in people matters in a market this size.
To me a loose analogy with radio is craft beer. Own the brewery, but when there is a viable base of something that is working, support it, stabilize the foundation, and diversify.
The radio industry, and advertised media in general, is addicted to lazy, easy money, which explains some of its decline.
