I was worried with early reviews, so much so that I was dreading a character assasination going in, and came out pleasantly surprised. No shame was brought upon the indy legacy, even with time travel factoring into this installment.
There were heavy complaints about Phoebe Waller Bridge in the early reviews, but aside from a couple self felating remarks (about being beautiful and self reliant, or something to that effect) she was a fine if not flawed character, who did show character growth. There were always a lot of con artists, thieves and shady, two-timing types in the indy films. It's all part of what actually makes them enjoyable. Some critics made her out to be the devil, or something.
I don't know if we have highly strung incel types taking over the movie critic scene or something but I don't understand the backlash in this case whatsoever.
Anyways. I had a fun time! They only dropped the ball with some late fan servicing that felt out of place but I think they got most of it right.
The de-aged scenes were vintage indy and I thoroughly enjoyed those.
Harrison turned in a great performance despite bring a 79-80 year old centering an action adventure film. It's evident he has a lot of passion for the character.

Jesus. I didn't realize that anyone had anything even slightly bad to say about her. I thought she was an absolutely perfect choice for the role. Cheeky yet affable, has that right amount of attitude and adventure-seeking. I like the fact that her character wasn't purely good. It fits that world better.
Being as that she's written some strong female characters as well as played them on screen, I imagine there is a significant incel thing happening here, which bums me out. She's an amazing talent, it's ridiculous that they can't see that.
For the record, I loved the film, and while I don't consider it to be part of the essential trilogy, it's a very, very good addition. I'd highly recommend.
