If you look at prospect rankings earlier in the season he wasn't even in the discussion of first round pick as he's a bit of a late riser. Cosentino seems like his biggest fan but the reality is that he wasn't even talking about him until the calendar hit 2023 as he wasn't on his December list. He's a later riser for better or worse.

How many prospects from lower euro leagues make a 1st round list, Hossa moved to Portland to get noticed, Kopitar to Sweden, Vanek to the USHL, the list goes on. Marian Gaborik got noticed in his final season in Slovakia but he had help as the coach was a relative and gave him lots of ice time, most players don't get that kind of help over there.
