So conroy has to accomplish a hockey trade, otherwise risks being forced to deal at the deadline for a future based package, which will hurt the teams chances of making the playoffs.
So he needs to strike before the season starts (hopefully in the next couple of days before all the money is gone), and find a workable hockey deal. Otherwise he’s putting himself in a bad spot starting the season with these guys, let alone the distraction that would come with walking these pieces to the trade deadline.

Even if Conroy wants to trade Hanifin for win now assets, he should be willing to trade him for futures or whatever maximizes his value in a trade.
He can then trade those futures for a win now asset, even if I think this would be the wrong move.
