i doubt there is going to be much appetite to fix it, but this has already been addressed. Max contract lengths was established to 7-8 years. One could theorize that they can be downgraded further to 6-7 years, or even 5-6. However, I think the players would demand something substantial back, and there are probably enough owners right now who probably don't see it as a big enough problem.
It is only collusion if they all do it together without involving the players. What we have never failed to see yet is teams trying to take advantage of any loopholes that they can to gain an advantage, necessitating yet another change later on. It seems fairly impossible for these teams to collude.
