Those are often the "smartest person in the room" type.

The thing with the people who actually ARE the smartest people in the room, they won't announce it, they won't flaunt it, and because they know what they don't know, they don't think it either.

I often find the smartest people I know call themselves idiots and praise other very intelligent people.

To be perfectly clear, I also call myself and idiot, but I'm just self aware enough to know it. Hell I've been a Flames fan for 34 years, what further proof do you need?
It's rarely about being the smartest guy in the room.

The single biggest factor I have seen in successful or wealthy people is their ability to identify and surround themselves with (other) intelligent people... Even on the surface of someone that's "going it alone", there's usually a legion of high level people behind the scenes - lawyers, accountants, marketers, etc.

Rush's biggest failure was thinking he was the smartest guy in the room while simultaneously being too dumb to surround himself with smart people.
