There are many moves every year at the deadline. It's a great time to move players. There are typically multiple arms races among contenders at the deadline. Players like Backlund, Hanifin, and Lindholm would be highly sought after.
The bigger issue becomes if Calgary is in or competing for a playoff spot, what do you do?

Agreed for sure, if the Flames are in a playoff spot, they simply don't move the assets.
Which makes an even bigger issue,
This is a tough spot, they can't sell low, however they definitely need to move the assets (i.e. Hanifin)
