This reminds me of when Detroit took Mo Seider; Honzek is a different box Calgary does not have in its pool and hasn’t had the time to showcase his talent yet. First year playing North American style of hockey and missed 23 games. Missing the world juniors didn’t give him that spotlight other prospects had. Just like the Yzerplan, got to give the Conplan time to unfold.
I also agree there were talented players passed on but in positions or had playing styles similar to other prospects in the pool we have. I see Honzek complementing players like Zary, Peltier, and Coronato; a big body willing to drive the net and has the skill to put the puck in the net or create room for these skilled forwards. We have the medium sized hard working playmakers and need a finisher who draws opponents to him. Plus he has decent wheels that will improve as he gets in the pro-level training programs. I’m buying into this kid and the Conplan!
