Not going to lie, he's not in the group of players I wanted but the team and scouts know a lot more than I do and you just have to put your trust in them. Seems like he's got a high floor so less of a chance of busting and hopefully he can progress and show that he can be an elite talent rather than a middle six forward. It's nowhere near close to the biggest reach of the first round that's for sure but I can't help but think they could have maybe gone for a higher upside forward.
Scott Wheeler of the Athletic labeled the Flames Overtime Losers (his definition: Teams I believe could have done better but might, in time, be happy with their pick(s) regardless.) for the pick so not universally loved but that doesn't mean he end up being a bad pick. Just a pick the fans will have to be patient with as he's probably going to go through the same development time as Pelletier and Zary.
