He was rushed. When Adams came in he recognized that and sent Mittlestadt back to the minors. With half a season in the AHL, he found his game again.
People complain about the Flames not giving young players a chance, but far more careers have been hurt by players being rushed to the NHL than by spending too much time in the minors.
