This wasn’t some guy who was a surprise trade. Everybody knew he was available, and you can pretty much guarantee more offers were out there. There’s no reason to believe the Flames didn’t take the best one, and it’s a hell of a lot better than losing him for nothing or re-signing him long term, right? So what’s the issue?

Agree the market is the market- but very, very, very curious how much negotiation went into this. I have my doubts they scrubbed super hard on it for the sake of preserving a new GM relationship. Total guessing here, but if I’m right I don’t think that’s acceptable.
